In Unity – ChallengeEU Student Poster Competition

    Featured July 7 - September 20

The ChallengeEU Alliance is more than a partnership between universities. It is an opportunity to grow, develop and drive positive change together. Our guiding idea of bringing together diverse strengths is expressed in the motto “In Unity” – the central theme of the first ChallengeEU Student Poster Competition. We invite students from ChallengeEU Alliance universities to present their artistic vision of what “In Unity” means to them. The competition encourages participants to explore, through the language of art, the ideas that lie at the heart of the ChallengeEU academic community: unity in diversity, cooperation across borders, and the shared values that connect people, institutions, cultures and regions across Europe. Submitted posters should offer a creative reflection on what it means to build bridges between different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences – and on how academic communities can work together to shape a more open, inclusive and collaborative future. All entries will be reviewed by an international jury. Selected works will be presented in a dedicated exhibition and published on the official ChallengeEU Alliance website, giving participants the opportunity to share their artistic vision with the wider European academic community. Main rules The deadline for submitting entries is 20 September 2026. >>> In Unity – ChallengeEU Student Poster Competition: Submission form Please note: The original design should be retained by the participant until the competition has been concluded. By entering the competition, each participant declares that, if their entry is selected as one of the winning works, they will provide the organiser with a complete set of materials enabling further professional editing of the design, its preparation for print, and its digital publication. The exhibition of works will be organised during Art & Science Day at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, held with the support of funding from NAWA, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

The ChallengeEU BIP at University of Warmia and Mazury: Regional Promotion and Development. Recruitment is open

    September 218:00 am - September 255:00 pm
Faculty Of Humanities, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn Obitza 1, Olsztyn, Poland

The Blended Intensive Programme ChallengeEU: Regional Promotion and Development is based on the principles of regenerative design, which views space, resources, and local ecosystems as interconnected elements of a single system. Participants will work on design challenges rooted in the local context, analysing social, environmental, and spatial relationships while developing solutions that address current needs and strengthen resilience and quality of life in the long term. The programme will be carried out in collaboration with representatives of the local socio-economic environment who, as stakeholders in the educational process, will contribute practical perspectives, local knowledge, and insights into the region’s real development needs. These partners include Kwaśne Jabłko Cidery, Farm and Agritourism Centre in Włodowo, together with cooperating local producers. The programme will be complemented by a documentation and communication component. Participants will document fieldwork, workshops, research activities, and project outcomes using various forms of media. As a result, the achievements of the course will not only be developed within the academic environment but will also be communicated to a broader audience as a tool for promoting the region both locally and internationally. This documentation will therefore serve a promotional function, presenting the region as a place of collaboration, local resources, innovation, and community-driven initiatives embedded in an authentic social and environmental context. Design Challenge How can we design solutions that strengthen the development of local communities by creating interconnected and collaborative ecosystems? Objective The aim of the course is to develop participants’ design, research, and communication skills in the field of sustainable development and regional promotion. Sustainability is understood not merely as reducing negative impacts, but as creating solutions that support environmental regeneration, empower local communities, and rebuild the relationship between people and place. Dates Organisers Faculty of HumanitiesUniversity of Warmia and Mazury in OlsztynObitza 1 Street, Olsztyn, Poland Recruitment >>> Complete the application form Programme Format Target Group Undergraduate, graduate, and long-cycle Master’s students representing a wide range of academic disciplines. Final Outcome The course will result in design concepts addressing local challenges and demonstrating how regenerative design can support place-based development, strengthen communities, and encourage a more responsible use of resources. Throughout the programme, participants will also produce documentation and communication materials alongside their design work. These materials will capture not only the final outcomes, but also the development process, participant experiences, and collaborative activities, while contributing to the promotion of both the region and the principles of regenerative approaches to designing solutions for local communities. These activities are made possible thanks to financial support from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange.

Art & Science Day 15 October - graphic

ChallengeEU Art & Science Day: Exploring the World Through Sound [Join Us Online]

    October 1510:00 am - 5:00 pm
University Library UWM Michała Oczapowskiego 12B, Olsztyn, Olsztyn, Poland

Art & Science Day is an open event dedicated to bringing together two worlds that are often perceived as distant from one another – art and science. Organised under the auspices of the ChallengeEU Alliance, the event aims to show that, in reality, they are much closer than we tend to think: both help us explore reality, ask questions, experiment and seek new ways of describing the world. We invite you to a series of open lectures, workshops and exhibitions on 15 October at the UWM University Library. The main theme of Art & Science Day at UWM will be sound – a phenomenon that can be studied, measured, interpreted and used creatively at the same time. Together with UWM academics, we will explore it from different perspectives, showing how much the approaches of scientists and artists can have in common. The programme will include open lectures streamed online, as well as workshops and a meeting at the company headquarters of one of our partners. Dr Sławomir Kulesza, Prof. UWM, will explain the physical nature of sound as a propagating longitudinal mechanical wave, while also encouraging participants to experiment and explore the phenomenon themselves. The presentation by Dr Marcin Piotrowicz will, in turn, introduce an artistic practice situated at the intersection of art and science, in which sound – understood as vibration and wave – becomes a visual and sculptural medium. Dr Agnieszka Jaszczak, Prof. UWM, will remind us that the soundscape is an integral part of our surroundings, shaping the way we perceive and experience space. >>> Streaming Two exhibitions will also be presented at the UWM University Library as part of Art & Science Day. One of them is by Dr Marcin Piotrowicz from the UWM Faculty of Arts, whose work brings together two of his great passions: music and visual arts. The second exhibition features works by students from universities forming the ChallengeEU Alliance – authors of posters visualising the idea of “In Unity”. The interactive workshop led by Dr Czesław Kiński will serve as a reminder that art is our first universal language, one that subtly influences the way we perceive reality every day, whether consciously or not. Under his guidance, participants will move from passive reception of art towards actively building a relationship with it and discovering the works that help define who they are. A unique opportunity to see how passion can develop into a business idea will be offered by a ChallengeEU M.A.R.K.E.T. Activity – a meeting with employees of the Olsztyn-based company Polyend. Musical instruments designed in the capital of Warmia are used by outstanding artists from around the world. They were also used in the creation of the music for the Oscar-winning film Joker. All activities planned for 15 October will create a space for jointly discovering how science and art can complement and inspire one another and lead to new ideas. Art & Science Day will be an opportunity to listen, experiment, ask questions and cross the boundaries between disciplines. Please note! The lectures and workshops will be held in English. The workshops will be held in person only. Registration is required for the workshop with Dr Czesław Kiński and the meeting with representatives of Polyend. Participants selected for the M.A.R.K.E.T. Activity at the company’s premises on Wioślarska Street will be able to use organised transport. Further information will be provided after registration. >>> Registration: Building Your Cultural Sixpack: How We Encounter, Process, and Own Art >>> Registration: ChallengeEU M.A.R.K.E.T. Activity: From a Passion For Music to a Global Business The event is funded by NAWA under the project “Strengthening the position of the University of Warmia and Mazury in the international arena through support for activities within the ChallengeEU European Universities Alliance.” .
